Indeed, I am almost really ready to finally, completely, totally lay into my intended series. I've been taking some time refining, retuning, and transcribing some notes, been laying out plot points and developing a hopefully logical sequence of plot points and character introductions and so forth, and heck, have even given the series a name! Well, a work-in-progress name...something along the lines of, "The Land of the Three Suns," or, "The Three Suns Accounts." Three Suns is figurative. In the earlier history of our world, many great nations used the sun to describe their empires; King Louis XIV of France is often referred to as "The Sun King;" "The sun never sets on the British Empire," was once quoted in reference to the empires immensity and greatness; Japan is still referred to as "The Land of the Rising Sun." Other references to other empires and civilizations still exist. Three primary civilizations/races are featured in this first series of books. Each has different strengths and weaknesses, each has different areas of reader appeal and dislike. They are my three suns, and though other civilizations may grow and exist, these three will continue as the other civilizations eventually die out or become assimilated by the three suns. Seems like it might be fun!
So okay, on another note, I showed the amazing piece of work that

did for me of my two main characters to a friend of mine. She once seemed fairly keen as to my writing, but when I showed her the piece, she said, "What? Wolves? You're writing about animals? Kind of silly, huh?" So yes, these are anthropomorphic wolves, if you will. What of it? I wanted to involve anthropomorphs in my writing for a couple of reasons. One, I'm a big fan of wolves and werewolves and werewolf lore. I loved the stories of wolves that walked and talked like men that I heard as I grew up, and as I read more and more werewolf-related folk tales and legends, I liked them more and more...much more than vampires. My characters started out as werewolves before they started out as "furries," just so you know.
Second reason. The first books, y'know, the ones dealing with the anthropomorphs? They deal with some pretty heady stuff, such as alcoholism, abuse, death, murder, revenge, and just all-around cold-hearted cruelty and hate and bigotry. I picked anthros as the main characters for a reason. It's based on my understanding of the word "inhuman." See, in observing the animal kingdom in a natural habitat, you learn a few things. You learn that most animals have a distinct family unit, and that they will defend this unit no matter their size or the size of their assailant. They take care of each other, they defend each other. They have little if any conscious acts of sadism or vengeance, hold no grudges, have very few bouts of irrationalism. Yet humans, despite their great potential for good and all of their absolutely amazing qualities, often hold grudges, exact vengeance, revel in making others miserable when they are miserable, abuse others and abandon our young and our families. In other words, everything that we say is "inhuman," we do. In these books, especially the first one, I want to show from an "animal's" point of view that, despite their magnificence, humanity has as much claim to inhumanity as their co-occupants in their world.
'Course I'm not going to solely vilify humans! After all, this is not a political treatise; this is a book, and should be entertainment. Good and bad characters from all races and walks of life will be introduced and expounded upon and rewarded and killed off. Just the way I roll, I guess. Hopefully I'll be able to have something working as far as a few chapters go by the end of next month.
As an aside, I've started writing my newsletter again. Filled with all sorts of surreal and parodic and kind of off-humor made-up articles, the newsletter had a bit of a following until things in my life took a very interesting roller coaster loop. I need a bit of a stress relief, and I love to write, so hopefully by the end of next week I'll have something written!
See ya later!
